[00:00:14.00]Welcome back to Rooted&Real, the last episode (of ‘If I Knew Then’ Series).
[00:00:21.00]This is Lynda, your pal.
[00:00:24.100]If I knew then what I know now,
[00:00:31.00]I would have made peace with regret sooner.
[00:00:36.00]But in all this, in all this what we’ve said about knowing then what you know now,
[00:00:43.00]there’s the good, there’s the bad, and there’s THE UGLY.
[00:00:50.01]So let’s start with the good.
[00:00:54.00]If you’re saying that regret means you cared, it means you’ve grown.
[00:01:01.100]If you feel regret, it’s because you’re not the same person who made that choice anymore.
[00:01:11.100]And that’s good news, isn’t it?
[00:01:14.00]It means you’re learning, you’re healing, and you’re becoming.
[00:01:24.00]When you replay the ‘what ifs’ at 3 a.m., that is when the bad gets in.
[00:01:31.100]The bad is when regret becomes your home.
[00:01:36.02]When you say, “What if I said sorry sooner?”
[00:01:41.00]“What if I didn’t waste those years?”
[00:01:43.00]“What if I chose different?”
[00:01:48.00]You know, I lived there for a while.
[00:01:51.00]And believe me, regret makes a terrible roommate.
[00:01:59.01]It steals your sleep and convinces you the past can be rewritten.
[00:02:05.00]Well, here is news…
[00:02:07.00]It can’t!
[00:02:09.01]And now we get to the ugly.
[00:02:15.64]Now, the ugly truth is you can’t undo it.
[00:02:21.64]You can’t un-say the words.
[00:02:24.99]You can’t un-spend that money.
[00:02:28.01]And you can’t un-miss that moment.
[00:02:33.00]And I’m telling you, I hated that part.
[00:02:35.100]I actually wanted a time machine.
[00:02:38.100]But the ugly also sets you free.
[00:02:44.99]Because once you accept you can’t change it,
[00:02:48.100]you can choose what to do today.
[00:02:54.00]What to do now.
[00:02:57.00]What to do this minute.
[00:03:02.09]So, if I knew then, what I know now,
[00:03:07.100]I’d tell myself this.
[00:03:10.100]Apologize where you can.
[00:03:12.100]Make it right where you can.
[00:03:16.100]Then, forgive yourself for the rest.
[00:03:23.100]Regret taught me, but
[00:03:26.00]it doesn’t get to define me.
[00:03:30.00]And it doesn’t get to define you, either.
[00:03:37.00]THANK YOU so much for walking through all 10 episodes with me on Rooted&Real.
[00:03:44.00]If ‘MY THEN’ helped ‘YOUR NOW’,
[00:03:50.00]then it was definitely worth it.
[00:03:53.00]Thank you for listening.
[00:03:55.09]Until next season,
[00:03:58.01]be gentle with yourself.
[00:04:01.00]You are still becoming.
[00:04:04.99]Love you…
