“Heal Without Permission…” You’re Not Here To Be Understood!

This is a standalone episode of the Lynda: Rooted&Real podcast.
In ‘Heal Without Permission’, Lynda emphasises that society often labels boundary-setting as selfishness. However, she encourages you to embrace the idea that you can heal on your own terms, regardless of others’ opinions.
Their frustration stems from their inability to manipulate the version of you that once existed.
Stay strong and continue your journey of self-discovery and healing.

[00:00:17.77]Hey, this is Rooted&Real and this is Lynda. How are you guys?
[00:00:25.83]So, today’s truth is going to sting just a little.
[00:00:29.76]And here it is: Not everyone will understand your healing.
[00:00:36.38]You see, healing makes people uncomfortable.
[00:00:40.83]When you start setting boundaries, some people will call you selfish.
[00:00:47.90]And when you start choosing peace, some people will call you distant.
[00:00:53.66]When you stop explaining yourself, some people will call you cold.
[00:01:00.96]And they’re not mad at the new you.
[00:01:06.20]They’re mad because they can’t use the old you anymore.
[00:01:14.08]No, you don’t need their permission.
[00:01:18.44]Your healing will confuse people who benefited from your brokenness.
[00:01:25.89]And that’s okay.
[00:01:27.69]You don’t need a crowd to validate your growth.
[00:01:30.73]Some relationships only worked when you were hurting.
[00:01:35.72]But when you heal, the relationship ends.
[00:01:40.96]Not because you changed wrong, but because you changed, period.
[00:01:48.96]Stop shrinking to make them comfortable.
[00:01:52.60]Stop explaining yourself to people who committed themselves to misunderstanding you.
[00:02:00.79]Keep going.
[00:02:03.42]They won’t clap for your healing.
[00:02:05.53]You clap for yourself.
[00:02:07.95]They won’t understand your NOs.
[00:02:10.54]Say them anyway.
[00:02:13.40]They won’t get your quiet seasons.
[00:02:16.41]Protect them anyway.
[00:02:19.42]So, if they don’t understand your healing, it’s okay.
[00:02:25.20]Let them not understand.
[00:02:27.69]You’re not here to be understood.
[00:02:29.67]You’re here to be free.
[00:02:33.12]Keep healing.
[00:02:36.08]Even if you have to do it alone.
[00:02:41.28]They’re mad, because they can’t use the old you anymore.
[00:02:47.87]And that’s okay.
