This is the fifth and final episode of the miniseries, “Picking Things Back Up: From Setback to Comeback” in the Lynda: Rooted&Real podcast.
In ‘Picking Things Back Up’ Part 5, the focus shifts to the importance of establishing boundaries, likening them to gates rather than walls. This perspective emphasises that while you are open to reconnecting with others, you also recognize the value of having standards that protect your well-being.

[00:00:17.58]Hey my people, we’re still here on Rooted&Real and this is Lynda. We’ve been
[00:00:24.91]picking up things after letting go. Today, this is the last one. We are picking
[00:00:35.16]boundaries up. Okay, we let people back in with no walls. Today, we Pick Up
[00:00:45.25]Boundaries. And you see, boundaries aren’t walls to keep love out. They’re fences
[00:00:53.21]with gates. You decide who comes in, when, and how. You decide which calls to pick
[00:01:07.92]and which ones not to. You decide which messages to send and which ones to
[00:01:14.52]respond to, and even which ones to ignore, okay? After being hurt, okay, you either
[00:01:21.89]build walls or no boundaries at all. And you see, both of those options leave you
[00:01:28.97]lonely. So today, we build gates. Say it as it is. ‘Unaambia mtu’ (You tell someone), “I don’t do
[00:01:39.68]last-minute plans.” – “No, I won’t rehash that argument.” And you’re not saying it
[00:01:45.91]cruelly, very calmly, but it is you saying it as it is. And don’t forget, ‘No’ is
[00:01:56.25]actually a full sentence. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for you wanting
[00:02:02.64]peace. People test gates, eh? What you should do is hold that gate once. Then
[00:02:14.71]they learn where the fence is. Picking up boundaries means you love yourself
[00:02:21.31]enough to protect your peace. You’re not mean. You’re not cold either. You’re healed
[00:02:30.35]enough to have standards. So, pick up those boundaries. Then rest behind them.
[00:02:41.85]And that’s how you rebuild after letting go. One thing at a time. I just want to
[00:02:53.08]say thank you so much again for making this journey with me. Remember, follow,
[00:03:02.64]comment, tell me what you want to hear and what you really don’t want to hear.
[00:03:08.91]God bless you all…
