“Picking Things Back Up: Part 1…” Peace!

This is the first episode of the miniseries, “Picking Things Back Up: From Setback to Comeback” in the Lynda: Rooted&Real podcast.
In ‘Picking Things Back Up’ Part 1, Lynda emphasises the importance of embracing peace, which often manifests in subtle ways. It’s found in the tranquility of quiet mornings and the safety of closed gates, reminding us to take a moment to breathe deeply and appreciate the stillness around us.
This notion of peace reassures us with a gentle reminder: “I’m still here.” It encourages us to recognise that even in the chaos of life, there are moments of calm waiting to be acknowledged and cherished.

[00:00:16.66]Hey my people, I’m back. Now, here it is. You have my permission to want good things again
[00:00:25.86]’cause we did ‘Letting Go’ and it was all so deep. But now we’re picking things back up.
[00:00:33.37]And this is episode one of ‘Picking Things Back Up’. Now the first thing we’re going to pick is Peace.
[00:00:41.39]So welcome back. Now, here it is. Peace isn’t loud. It’s not ‘ati’ confetti and announcements and
[00:00:52.74]“A-li-li-li-li-li!” I don’t know what. No! Peace sounds boring. Sometimes, you know, quiet mornings.
[00:01:04.10]No more checking of your social media page, sleeping through the night.
[00:01:11.61]And what you need to remember, this same peace, you lost it sometime back when you were gripping
[00:01:21.70]too tight to stuff, too tight to relationships, too tight to projects that weren’t working, too
[00:01:26.83]tight to control. So today, we pick it up gently. Choose one quiet thing, not ‘ati’ (like) 10 habits.
[00:01:39.78]One. Five minutes of no phone. Have some tea without scrolling.
[00:01:46.65]Silence is peace coming back. Now, you need to stop arguing in your head, having a meeting with
[00:02:00.03]You, Yourself and You, you know, with them, with whoever hurt you,
[00:02:07.23]and with the naysayers and even with God. So you drop that case. Not everything needs a verdict.
[00:02:18.49]But the only thing you need to really do,
[00:02:23.78]guard your gates. You know your gates, your heart, your emotions, your what?
[00:02:29.38]Guard them by what you watch, who you text, what you replay at 2am.
[00:02:38.98]Peace will die there first. Okay, so you’ve got to guard it. And peace won’t chase you.
[00:02:46.74]You have to pick it up, okay? If your chest feels tight right now, exhale.
[00:03:02.82]That’s peace saying, “I’m still here.”
[00:03:07.86]And you deserve some quiet. So pick it up.
