“Guard Your Access…” Your Peace Is Not Public Property!

This is a standalone episode of the Lynda: Rooted&Real podcast.
It’s important to recognise that not everyone is worthy of your time and energy. Establishing boundaries is a sign of maturity, not cruelty. By protecting your space, you create an environment that fosters your well-being. You guard your access.
Prioritising your safety and mental health is essential, and you don’t owe anyone an explanation for your choices. Embracing this mindset allows you to cultivate relationships that truly enrich your life.

[00:00:18.12]Welcome back to Rooted&Real. This is your friend, Lynda.
[00:00:23.33]Today I’ll touch on boundaries. You don’t owe access to everyone.
[00:00:29.78]This is a boundary nobody taught us. Look, just because someone knew the old you,
[00:00:37.30]doesn’t mean they get to know the new you. Just because they’re family, doesn’t mean they get
[00:00:43.19]keys to your peace. Just because they’re asking, doesn’t mean you have to answer, okay?
[00:00:48.92]It’s your time, it’s your energy, it’s your heart. And that’s not public property.
[00:00:56.66]Always remember, “No!” is a full sentence. You don’t need a PowerPoint to say no.
[00:01:04.61]You don’t owe anyone an explanation for protecting your peace. No is actually a complete sentence.
[00:01:14.59]“I can’t” is enough. And boundaries are not mean, they’re mature. The people who get offended by
[00:01:23.18]your boundaries, were definitely benefiting from you having none. So let them be offended.
[00:01:29.67]So guard your peace like it’s expensive. Because it is. You don’t owe access to everyone.
[00:01:40.33]You owe yourself safety. And that’s enough.
