[00:17.07]‘Karibuni tena kwenye Rooted&Real na
huyu ni mwenzenu Lynda’ (Welcome back to
Rooted&Real and this is Lynda).
[00:24.77]Today we’re still talking about daddys.
[00:28.09]And today to the dad who is tired,
I just want to say it’s okay.
[00:34.01]‘It’s Okay to Be Tired’,
like deep in your bones tired, it’s okay.
[00:39.37]You’re allowed to be tired.
[00:41.29]You’re carrying a lot that no one sees.
[00:44.57]You’re the provider, the protector, the
fixer, basically the
[00:49.53]strong one, so they say.
[00:51.57]Everyone is coming to you
when there’s a problem.
[00:53.55]“Dad, we need…” ‘Ama’ (or), your wife
says, “Babe, we need…”
[00:58.37]And you just say, “‘Sawa’ (okay) I’ll
handle it.” But let me ask you,
[01:04.61]who handles you?
[01:08.61]You don’t complain
because you’re told men don’t complain.
[01:13.49]You just keep pushing,
even when your back hurts.
[01:17.81]Even when you haven’t slept well in months
because you think about
[01:21.21]rent, school fees, business.
[01:24.29]Then people say, “Men have it easy.”
You just laugh because they have no idea.
[01:35.29]My friend, my brother,
it’s okay to be tired.
[01:40.61]Tired doesn’t mean you’re weak.
[01:42.25]It means you’ve been strong
for too long without rest.
[01:47.49]You’re allowed to say, “I’m exhausted
today.” You’re allowed to sit and do
[01:50.67]nothing, even for an hour
without feeling guilty.
[01:54.29]You’re allowed to not
have the solution today.
[01:59.37]Resting doesn’t make you lazy.
[02:00.97]It makes you human.
[02:03.41]You can’t protect your
family if you collapse.
[02:07.13]So tonight, today evening,
do one thing that refills you.
[02:12.41]Talk to a pal, take a walk without your
phone, sleep early, read a book, write
[02:18.45]in your journal.
You matter, too.
[02:19.97]Not just what you provide,
but you just being you.
[02:27.89]So take care of the man behind the father.
[02:32.01]He matters, too.
