Boundaries…” No Is a Complete Sentence!

Boundaries: No Is A Complete Sentence

This is a standalone episode of the Lynda: Rooted&Real podcast.

Lynda’s advice in ‘Boundaries’ reminds us that saying no is an act of honesty. It isn’t selfish to protect your time.. When you set limits, you show people how to love you properly. This keeps you from burning out or feeling resentful.

You matter just as much as anyone else in the room. Peace comes when you stop feeling guilty for having needs. Your well-being is a priority.

[00:00:18.49]Hey, this is Lynda again on Rooted&Real.
[00:00:22.65]There’s something I’m always
going to be talking about, and that’s
[00:00:26.93]‘Boundaries’, because I don’t
think we talk enough about them.
[00:00:33.65]Now, listen, “No” is not a mean word.
[00:00:38.65]Saying no doesn’t make you cold.
[00:00:41.77]Saying no doesn’t make you selfish.
[00:00:45.45]It makes you honest.
[00:00:49.29]Boundaries are how you protect your peace,
your time, your energy.
[00:00:56.29]It includes yourself, too.
[00:00:59.89]You can love people that still not
let them have access to all of you.
[00:01:05.33]You can care very deeply and still say,
“That doesn’t work for me”.
[00:01:11.09]It’s allowed.
[00:01:12.81]Real love doesn’t ask you to shrink
or to overgive, or abandon yourself
[00:01:21.85]just to keep that love.
‘Hapana’ (No)!
[00:01:25.13]Every time you set a boundary,
you’re teaching people how to treat you.
[00:01:31.21]And you’re teaching yourself
that you matter too.
[00:01:36.85]And that’s not distance, that’s respect.
[00:01:41.37]They might be confused at first,
they might push back, but that’s okay.
[00:01:48.73]You, you, stay soft and stay clear.
[00:01:54.89]A boundary without guilt is freedom.
[00:02:00.53]Boundaries are love.
[00:02:03.57]Love for them, love for you.
[00:02:08.61]Just draw the line and mean it.
[00:02:13.05]And please, please remember,
NO is a complete sentence.
